Gorgeous vistas, guided wine tastings, or just casual sipping at one of the sprawling property’s many bars make this a classic spot in Temecula Valley Wine Country.

This 25-acre vineyard has amazing wines — from Syrah Rosé (perfect summer sip) to endless whites and reds. Take a wine tour guided by an expert educator, enjoy events like Wine Wednesday with specialty food trucks and live music, or the Food Truck Alley at Crush House Tasting Room.

Going strong since 1927, this historic spot offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is beloved for its Texas-style craft BBQ including smoked brisket, turkey, spare ribs, pulled pork, beef ribs, and pork belly burnt ends.
Sugarplum Zoo and Chocolates, 39695 Berenda Rd.
Dubbed the “world’s first chocolate shoppe and petting zoo,” this unique business offers a variety of handmade chocolates, truffles, and wine tastings. But what makes this place truly special are the cute animals who live here — cows, camels, zebras, and pigs, oh my. The kids will love it.

Civic
Tomorrow is the deadline to submit public comments on the scope and analysis of an upcoming Environmental Impact Report for the Midway Rising redevelopment. The ambitious project aims to bring fresh housing, a new entertainment arena, an urban park, and more to 48.5 acres in San Diego’s Sports Arena community.
Development
After years of planning, it seems Karl Strauss Brewing Company is coming to Santee. The brewery plans to build an outdoor brew pub behind Santee Trolley Square, similar to the San Marcos location that opened last year. Some of the construction could begin this year. (East County Magazine)
Coming Soon
Good News — described as an alcohol-free, “free-spirited bar” — will open up shop in San Diego in early 2024, although the location has not yet been announced. The idea comes from Kaylee and Crystal Clark, recovering alcoholics who want to create a social space where people can unwind.

Next time you cross the border into Tijuana, check out the new, colorful mural blanketing the stairs near Casa de la Cultura. The stairs — part of the daily commute for thousands — now boast rainbow hues and images of catrinas created by Tijuana artists Mode Orozco, Kat.ce, and Mara Madrigal. (San Diego Union-Tribune)
