Sea Hive: A buzzy new marketplace at San Diego’s Liberty Station

Imagine perusing row after row of unique goodies made right here in San Diego, all under one roof (or inside a big ol’ hive, if you will). If that sounds like your jam, honey, then Sea Hive, a new marketplace at Liberty Station is for you.

Sea Hive recently opened in one of those big, nondescript warehouse spaces on Dewey Road at Liberty Station. It’s the second of its kind, after the brand’s original queen bee store on South Coast Highway in Oceanside.

The 23,000 sqft marketplace is home to 150+ vendors that sell new and retro clothing, locally-made jewelry and accessories, non-perishable snacks, housewares, furniture, art prints and paintings, textiles, toys, plants, and so, so much more.

The items are showcased in little booth-like areas, each decorated in vibrant colors + vibes that fit the gems being sold in that section. It’s a multi-sensory experience; you don’t know where to look or what to look at next.

🕺 We were drawn in by the groovy set-up of La Loupe Vintage, transported to the ‘70s + all about the chunky jewelry + threads.

🍯 We were also sweet on everything from San Diego Honey Company, which then had us craving a cup of tea.

💫 And can we please talk about Yoko Chai? That funky space took us to another world where, again, the jewelry had us swooning.

So, Pro Tip: give yourself some time when you visit so, you know, you can bee truly present.

Bonus: On the second Sunday of each month, Sea Hive takes it outside for “Second Sundays,” an outdoor makers’ market in the parking lot with local artists and vendors in attendance.
