The buzzy arts and events venue on Ohio Street was established in 2008.

North Park’s beloved Queen Bee’s Art & Cultural Center turns 15 tomorrow and there’s a lively party going down to celebrate the venue’s milestone.

Queen Bee’s donation-based anniversary shindig starts at 12 p.m. and will include food, live music, and dance classes. San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria is expected to read a city proclamation acknowledging the importance of the space for local creatives. RSVP here.

Since 2008, Queen Bee’s has been a hive for all sorts of art forms and events including live music, comedy shows, poetry slams, open mic nights, and dance classes like salsa, swing, and “pole buzz.” The venue also hosts its Beatles Fair every summer dedicated to the legacy of the Fab Four and features niche gatherings like the San Diego Yo-Yo Classic.

“It hasn’t always been easy, but I think we’ve built up something special at Queen Bee’s,” said owner Alma Rodriguez.
