Beachgoers are getting ready to catch The Beach Bug — San Diego’s new, all-electric shuttle that will connect the Balboa Transit Station to Pacific Beach while traveling up to 25 mph.

Riders will be able to hail a vehicle from the 4-car fleet via an app or phone call. Shuttles began operations on July 12, and can now be used by travelers.

When The Beach Bug launches, it will begin with a 3-month free pilot program. After that, riders will pay $2.50 for all-day access.

Planning a beach trip? Once the PB shuttle begins making its rounds, its hours will be:

  • Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday: 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Thursday and Friday: 7 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m.- 10 p.m.
  • Sunday: 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
