San Diego County introduces draft of its Climate Action Plan

San Diego is planning for a cleaner, greener future. The county has introduced its Climate Action Plan (CAP) draft that outlines the steps to achieve its goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. To do this, the plan discusses areas where the county will make changes, including:
Transportation and building
Energy usage
Waste reduction and management
Agriculture
Water conservation
The CAP draft also maps out the county’s evaluation efforts and provides an accompanying Supplemental Environmental Impact Report draft that identifies significant effects the plan may have on the existing environment.
The county is hosting a series of CAP review office hours at select libraries this month, and the plan is available for review and comment online through Jan. 5, 2024. Following the review period, the county will prepare a finalized CAP that will be presented to the Board of Supervisors in fall 2024.
