  • Chula Vista relaunched its First-Time Homebuyer Program, designed to help residents at or below 80% of the San Diego County median household income.   • The show must go on, and Cygnet Theatre + NTC Foundation have partnered to open the Joan and Irwin Jacobs Performing Arts Center at Liberty Station inside Navy Building 178. The $39 million, 32,000-sqft project will become Cygnet’s home when it opens — which is anticipated for fall 2024. 🎭 (San Diego Union-Tribune)

  • Time to vote. The City of San Diego asked you to name its new, electric street sweeper, and it’s down to three options: “Sweep-E,” “The Blue Broomba” + “T.E.S.S. (The Electric Street Sweeper).” Your vote will enter you into a raffle to win prizes like SeaWorld tickets. 🧹

  • The price of a 1 BD, 1 BA apartment in the City of San Diego dropped 4.6% from September to October, bringing the average rent to $2,500 — making it the sixth most expensive market in the nation.   • Santa Paws is coming to town — The Gaslamp Pet Parade will return Saturday, Dec. 17, at 1 p.m. The event is free to watch, but you can register your dog to participate for $25.   • Researchers at UC San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography caught the opportunity to study the North Pacific big-eye octopus — a rare species that’s notoriously difficult to keep alive in captivity. For the first time ever, they observed this deep-sea-dweller hatch fertilized eggs and care for its newborns. 🐙
