We can’t deny it, San Diego has been feeling a little gray lately. The city hasn’t seen an entirely clear day since Feb. 15 .
If you feel May Gray and June Gloom have been worse this year, you’re not wrong. In May, there were zero completely sunny days, and cloud coverage averaged 82.5% — greater than the month’s average of 63.9% .
This trend is likely to continue. According to the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, San Diego is expected to be cooler than average in June. This will keep surface temperatures in the ocean cooler, which helps the marine layer stick around. When temps are warmer, the layer dissipates .
June Gloom could last throughout the entirety of the month, but that doesn’t mean the sun will be completely absent. This weekend, temperatures are expected to warm up (low 70s at the coast and high 70s inland) and it will only be partially cloudy.
