Beach days , we’re ready for you, and nothing beats a walk down one of San Diego’s piers. If you’re looking for a pier-fect spot to see the waves, catch a sunset, or enjoy reely good fishing, we have five ideas for you — though one landmark might be closed this summer.

Updates in OB

The Ocean Beach Municipal Pier has been closed since February due to damage from winter storms. Mayor Todd Gloria has hopes of reopening the local landmark for the summer, but structural deterioration may not make this possible. These discussions have left locals wondering whether it’s better to repair or re-pier .

Based on its current analysis, the City of San Diego plans to eventually replace the pier. The completion date of the Ocean Beach Pier Renewal project has not been announced, but planning and permitting stages are expected to run through the end of 2024.

If you have comments, ideas, or feedback regarding the project, the second community workshop is this Saturday, June 10, 2-4 p.m. at the Liberty Station Conference Center.

We love this view in O’Side
