This weekend was a slam dunk for the San Diego State University Aztecs. On Friday, the team defeated the No. 1 seeded Alabama Crimson Tide 71-64 in the NCAA Tournament.
There’s plenty of happiness in March Madness.

This allowed the team to advance to the Elite Eight in the March Madness bracket. Yesterday, they faced the Creighton Bluejays in a nail-biter game. With 1.2 seconds left on the clock and a tied score, Darrion Trammell shot a game-winning free throw, giving the Aztecs a 57-56 victory.
This is Aztecs history, and was the program’s first-ever appearance in the Elite Eight — they’d only been in the Sweet 16 twice before . Now, history continues as the team will get its first shot in the Final Four .
Next stop: NRG Stadium in Houston, TX, to face the Florida Atlantic Owls on Saturday, April 1, 3:09 p.m., in the Final Four .
