The historic LaFayette Hotel & Club in North Park has a roaring new addition. Lou Lou’s Jungle Room, a music venue and supper club, is set to open this weekend.

The ballroom — formerly known as the Mississippi Room — has capacity for 580 people and is designed to resemble a 1920s jazz club with animal-inspired decor to match the rest of the hotel . It also features restored elements from its original 1940s design, including its hardwood dance floor and the clamshell-shaped stage where Bob Hope once performed.

This bar will takes inspiration from 1920s New York jazz nightclubs.

Chef Ted Smith has developed the space’s dinner menu. There will also be a selection of craft cocktails served at the circular bar that was immortalized in the “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” scene from “Top Gun.”

The lounge will debut this Saturday, Jan. 20, with a sold out show featuring Thee Sacred Souls. Then, it will be open Thursdays through Sundays with more performances .
