Brunch , but make it super fancy — with a side of history.
Hotel del Coronado is hosting a pop-up brunch event this Sunday, Feb. 26, at its historic Crown Room . Pre-pandemic, the classic Sunday brunch buffet was a staple at the space, but this is the first time it’s been offered since March 2020 — other than special holiday brunch events.
Seatings are from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m., and reservations are required. The menu includes brunch, seafood, ramen, poke, and carving stations, plus seasonal sides, salads, and decadent desserts for days. Tickets cost $165 for adults and $75 for kids ages 4-10 (plus gratuity and tax). 🍰
By the way, if the walls inside the Crown Room could talk — well, they’d own the brunch conversation. So much history has happened in this room, so let’s dish.

- In 1920, a banquet was held inside the Crown Room for Edward, Prince of Wales .
- In 1927, Charles Lindbergh was honored at the venue for successfully completing the first solo, transatlantic flight.
- On Sept. 3, 1970, President Richard Nixon hosted the first state dinner outside of the White House in the Crown Room, attended by Frank Sinatra and John Wayne, to name a few famous faces.
One more fun fact: the Crown Room’s dazzling, crown-shaped chandeliers
were designed by L. Frank Baum, author
of the “Wizard of Oz” series, who frequented Coronado Island between 1904-1910. 🪄
