Each day, we write the SDtoday newsletter with one goal: to help you better connect with your community. And each day, our friends across the US, from Seattle to Tampa Bay, do the same.

Here at 6AM City, we know the value of investing in local media. It keeps neighbors connected and the community informed. We’re invested in improving how you experience San Diego, like what events to attend + the latest city initiatives and developments to keep an eye on — all in our free newsletter. How is that sustainable, you might ask?

We partner with national brands and some of San Diego’s best organizations + businesses that support our mission of bringing only good news to your inbox, but efforts don’t stop there. Over the next six days, we’re running a reader-driven campaign to help sustain the continuation of what we do best.

Looking for the next new restaurant hitting SD’s food scene? Check out these buzzy places to eat and drink in San Diego — plus, some spots coming soon.

Tacos El Franc, 528 Fifth Ave. | The famed Tijuana taqueria opened its second U.S. location in the Gaslamp Quarter, serving its signature charcoal-grilled carne asada and adobada tacos alongside housemade beans and horchata. Doors open daily at 4 p.m., with late-night hours on weekends.

Yard House, 2015 Birch Rd., Chula Vista | The chain’s third and newest San Diego County location debuted at Otay Ranch Center with 90 beer taps — including some local pours — and 80+ dishes, from poke nachos to tacos. Pop in for happy hour, too.

Mission Bagel, 1344 Garnet Ave. | The shop that began as a bagel food truck along Grand Avenue expanded into a permanent storefront, serving New York-inspired bagels with a “snap and chew.” Owner Gabe Rubin has been chronicling his journey of opening up the shop on Instagram and the hustle is real.

Flecha Cantina, 4S Commons Town Center | Projected opening: 2026 | San Diego’s celebrity restaurants scene is growing. Actor Mark Wahlberg plans to open his Flecha Cantina restaurant at the former site of Miguel’s Cocina in 4S Ranch. The brand has locations in Huntington Beach and Las Vegas, too.
