The Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina hotel is rolling out something new: Downtown Skate, a 6,000-sqft outdoor roller skating rink opening Monday, Nov. 25. The seasonal rink runs through Jan. 5, 2025, and will offer ticketed, 90-minute skating sessions for $25 per person, which includes rental skates.

Have you heard of California’s “daylighting” law? It bans parking within 20 feet of any crosswalk so approaching drivers can better see pedestrians in an intersection. Enforcement begins Jan. 1, 2025; San Diego police will issue warnings for the first 60 days while locals get up to speed on the new rule.

After 15+ years of advocacy and donations from community groups, city leaders broke ground on a $5.1 million improvement project at Marcy Park in University City. Set to be completed by spring of 2026, the upgrades will include two new play areas, lighting, shade structures, accessible walkways, and landscaping.
