San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs fans in San Diego, it’s time to find your tribe. Super Bowl LVIIIkicks off at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11, and while SD doesn’t have an NFL team anymore, the big game is still a big deal — especially at these local restaurants and bars that are known hubs for the teams in the 2024 spotlight.
🏈 49ers
Moonshine Beach, Pacific Beach Most days, this PB bar has country western vibes — unless it’s game day. That’s when the San Francisco energy takes over, and 49ers fans flock here.

🏈 Chiefs
Kansas City Barbeque, Embarcadero This bar’s name lets you know which team it’s rooting for, and Chiefs fans know it’s a “Top Gun” place to catch the game. Pro tip: The restaurant tends to open early when KC plays.

Have you found love in San Diego? We want to know about it.
This Valentine’s Day, we’re creating a map of places where our readers have made memories around the area. We want to hear about every kind of relationship. Tell us about your meet cute stories, getting advice from a parent, learning to love yourself... we love love stories in all their forms. (But do keep it PG, please.)
Add a story to our map below by clicking the green “add point” button. You have until Friday, Feb. 9, to submit for a chance to be featured in our interactive map (and newsletter).
We’ll go first with a story of our own. A trip to Sunset Cliffs in February 2021 helped City Editor Mike see his partner in a different light — as relationship material. It also further ignited his love for San Diego and its stunning coastline.
A portable phone charger that’s credit card-sized and fits right on the back of your smartphone. Choose your color and store the slim, lightweight device in your pocket or bag.
Happy Friday, San Diego. It looks like this weekend’s weather will be dreary, so I have a fun suggestion — book it to a San Diego Public Library or a county library. If you don’t have a library card, it’s totally free and they offer an endless supply of entertainment. Plus, the libraries offer way more than just books. Or try one of these fun local events.
