🏗️ A new chapter for Chula Vista

UniverCity breaks ground in Chula Vista

We like the way you think, Chula Vista. The city has broken ground on UniverCity, a project designed to create office space, a new library, and higher education opportunities in the brand-new Millenia community.

This week, crews broke ground on Phase 1, which will develop the first building of the project’s $96.4 million “Think Campus.” This includes 108,000 sqft of office space and a 60,000-sqft library — Chula Vista’s first new library since 1995 and its largest.

The first phase is expected to be completed in fall 2025, but it won’t include studio space for SDSU, as originally planned. State Senator Steve Padilla hopes the project will help with the “goal of bringing a four-year university to Chula Vista.”

Later, Phase 2 will add another 150,000-sqft, mixed-use building and a 6,100-sqft amenities building.

Good morning, San Diego. OK, I have one more new restaurant for you — Better Buzz opened a new cafe at 3016 Carlsbad Blvd. in Carlsbad Village. The local chain has a growing number of locations, including another store opening soon in Grantville. I love Better Buzz, so I’m glad to see the “Best Drink Ever” coming to more communities.
