Micro-living in San Diego

A little goes a long way when you’re living in San Diego. As the city moves forward with plans to add more housing in limited space, these three developments show how micro-apartments can become hot homes.

What is a micro-apartment? Typically, they’re units smaller than your average studio, often providing renters 400 sqft or less and designed to emphasize efficiency. Micro-unit complexes generally have more communal spaces and are located in urban areas near public amenities.

Parkline, North Park
This recently-opened, L-shaped building offers studio, 1 BD, and 2 BD apartments starting just under 400 sqft. Each unit has its own washer and dryer, a miniature kitchen, and access to shared features like:
  • A rooftop terrace with a firepit next to a conference room and community lounge
  • A community fitness center featuring Peloton equipment
  • Pet-friendly spaces to clean and groom your pup
  • Transit-focused living — the building has 28 parking spots for its 91 units

Excited for changes coming to Petco Park in 2024? Join the club.

The ballpark has announced its upcoming membership-based Cutwater Agave Club — set to debut on Opening Day 2024 — named for the locally-based canned cocktail brand. The multi-million dollar renovated club will open along the third base line on the Terrace Level beneath the Western Metal Supply Co. building.

Inside, members will be able to enjoy the Padres game with a variety of cushy seating options, including packages that come with their own table. Members can also dig in to a selection of ballpark-favorite food and soft drinks.

The new club is considered “premium seating,” meaning tickets are restricted to season ticket members. But, non-member fans will also be able to enjoy a portion of the space: The club will have a walk-up exterior bar accessible from the Terrace Level concourse.

Good morning, San Diego. I was walking in Balboa Park the other day and I saw a large skeleton in the bed of a truck. I can’t be certain, but I hope this was just a decoration for The Haunted Trail, which opens this weekend. Luckily, San Diego is packed with other fall events, and they’re not all this scary.
