‘Beaglemania’ hits San Diego 🐾
We sniff new family members. | Photo via @sdhumanesociety
The San Diego Humane Society(SDHS) is helping 108 beagles find new homes. The hounds traveled across the universe (or, from Virginia) after being rescued from a breeder.
It was a big task, but here comes the sun — SDHS is overwhelmed by support. There’s so much interest from locals wanting to adopt the beagles, that the organization implemented a lottery-based system to help the dogs come together with their new owners. If you want to be considered, you must submit your interest by 8 p.m. today.
Before adopting a beagle, SDHS wants potential owners to be aware of the unique needs of the breed. They’re family-friendly pets, but will need space to twist and shout. If a beagle isn’t the right fit for you, the non-profit continues to Help! other pets find homes, especially as animals are displaced during wildfires.
THE WRAP
Today’s issue was written by Michael.
Editor’s pick: Good morning, San Diego. In the midst of the heat wave, I’m reminiscing on one of my favorite pastimes as a kid — playing Skee-Ball. If you want some indoor fun, I recommend playing at a local arcade or bar like downtown’s Time Out Sports Tavern, Belmont Park Arcade or Coin-Op in the Gaslamp Quarter + North Park.
