Something’s cookin’ in Pacific Beach: A brand-new shop with “pre-loved” vibes, offering a curated collection of gently used kitchen + dining items. The 5,000-sqft resale shop is the brainchild of local nonprofit Kitchens for Good — and the first of its kind to open in the US. Let’s see what’s in the mix.

🍽️ The ingredients (aka the details):
The Kitchens for Good Shop
is located at 980 Hornblend St. in PB — on the corner of Cass Street, in that building that used to be a Sherwin-Williams paint store.
The shop sells donated
and “underused” cooking, baking + dining items (like the pizza stone you used that one time or those dishes collecting more dust than dinner), plus high-end small appliances, vintage glassware, and kitchen collectibles. Shoppers will also find limited edition home items handmade by Kitchen for Good apprentices
.

🍳 The good stuff:
Proceeds from the store support the nonprofit’s tuition-free culinary programs, its hunger relief and food waste reduction initiatives, and its overall mission to help job-seekers impacted by trauma gain access to careers + fresh starts. So, it really is kitchenware for good.

🎉 The opening:
The shop has been collecting kitchenware donations as it gears up for its grand opening on Sat., Feb. 19, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The free community shindig will feature crafts for kids, food, and jazz music from Steph Johnson of Voices for Our City Choir — even San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria + Councilmember Jen Campbell will attend.
