Today, we’re exploring three prime spots for RV camping in our region — hitting the coast, South Bay + East County in one trek, ‘cause that’s how we roll. 🌄

🌊 Campland on the Bay , 2211 Pacific Beach Dr., Mission Bay

Open 365 days a year, this 40-acre, picturesque campground on the shores of Mission Bay has been around for 50+ years . Campland boasts 562 campsites412 with full hookups — and also welcomes tent camping.

It’s beloved for its beautiful views , proximity to SeaWorld San Diego, pools + hot tubs , and access to water sports like wakeboarding, paddleboarding, and kayaking.

Nightly + weekly camping rates vary by season but start at $88 per night (with a minimum of three nights) beginning tomorrow — Campland’s official start of “winter season.” Check availability .

🌅 Sun Outdoors San Diego Bay , 825 E St., Chula Vista

This South Bay gem offers spacious RV sites, tent camping, and furnished vacation cottage rentalsfor more of a glamping experience.

Amenities include a pool , splash pad, putting green, dog park, lawn games , and access to walking + biking paths at Sweetwater March Nature Reserve. The campground is also just a quick shuttle ride from the Living Coast Discovery Center .

Rates vary by season, but standard, full hookup RV sites start at ~$162 per night. Check availability .

🎣 Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve , 9310 Fanita Pkwy., Santee

This 190-acre East County park features seven manmade, recycled water lakes — plus 300 full hookup campsites and 10 rental cabins .

Locals + visitors flock to Santee Lakes for fishing (the lakes are stocked year-round), pedal boating , picnicking , the walking paths, splash pad, and playgrounds — all available for day use , too. The preserve debuted a $9 million renovation in 2021 that even included a Tin Fish Restaurant and lakefront dining deck.
