San Diego Wave FC awarded the 2023 NWSL Shield

San Diego Wave FC earned the best record of the regular NWSL 2023 season, winning the league’s Shield award after their game at Snapdragon Stadium on Oct. 15, 2023.

San Diego Wave FC are on top of their game and heading to the NWSL Playoffs 2023.

On Sunday, Oct. 15, the team defeated Racing Louisville FC 2-0, wrapping up their regular season with an 11-7-4 record. Here’s the kicker: This scored them the 2023 NWSL Shield, an award given to the NWSL team with the best regular season record.

The team is the No. 1 seed heading into the playoffs and will advance directly to the semifinals. They will face either Angel City FC or Seattle’s OL Reign, depending on the outcome of the quarterfinal match this Friday, Oct. 20.

Wave FC’s semifinal match will kick off at Snapdragon Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 5, 6:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale today at 10 a.m.
