There’s only one thing we love more than cheering on San Diego’s sports teams, and that’s rooting for our home teams in good company. Fortunately, the city has plenty of cheers-worthy sports bars.
Check out the Padres or Wave FC’s schedules and gather your friends for game day. We’ve rounded up seven San Diego sports bars below.
🍻 Bub’s at the Ballpark, 715 J St.
The ultimate sports bar that’s just steps away from Petco Park. Bub’s offers various specials on the days of Padres games, including $6 Shiner Bock drafts on home game days.
Try this: Head to Bub’s on a Wednesday for its buy five wings, get five wings free special. We recommend trying the spicy teriyaki flavor.
Sandbar Sports Bar & Grill, 718 Ventura Place
At this San Diego sports bar, TVs with live sporting events aren’t the only views you’ll be raving about; Sandbar Sports Bar & Grill offers ocean views from its skydeck too. The bar is located along Mission Beach, slinging award-winning fish tacos, craft cocktails, brewskis + more from 9 a.m.-11 p.m. daily.
Try this: Obviously the award-winning TKO style fish tacos. Also, try the Sandbar Sangria and the Loaded Mini Churros for dessert.
🍻 McGregor’s Ale House, 10475 San Diego Mission Rd.
This friendly neighborhood joint boasts flat screen TVs, dart boards, pool tables, a shuffleboard, an outdoor patio, and a vast food + drink menu. Bonus: Book a private event in McGregor’s event space: Johnny’s Bar. The space features 18 rotating drafts, a full bar, a TV + more.
Try this: A basket of potato skins. Plus, visit for brunch on the weekends and try the French Toast Sticks.
🍻 The Local Eatery & Drinking Hole, 1065 4th Ave.
This bar’s name offers a dead giveaway to its mission — support all things local, from San Diego’s sports teams, beers, music, and cuisine. As such, The Local Eatery & Drinking Hole offers a menu that is chock full of regional flavors and California craft beers.
Try this: The Tempura Beech Mushrooms that have been fried in Latin spiced tempura batter + Rosemary Mac N Cheese that’s topped with crumbled bacon are two of our favorite dishes. Wash it down with a Topo Chico Mango Margarita.
🍻 Home & Away, 2222 San Diego Ave.
This Old Town staple has everything you need for a good time — craft beer + spirits, plenty of TVs, an outdoor space with patio games, and arcade games. Plus, it’s open daily from 11:30-1 a.m. + opens at 9:30 a.m. on NFL game day Sundays.
Try this: Split the Bubbling Burro pitcher — tequila, Aperol, lime, pineapple, simple syrup, bubbles — with your friends while noshing on the Spicy Surf & Turf burrito.
🍻 Bar One, 1532 India St.
Bar One is nestled in the streets of Little Italy and neighbored by Isola Pizza Bar and Allegro Restaurant and Bar. Although small in size, the bar boasts big flavors and an impressive beer, wine + cocktail list. Bonus: Bar One serves brunch on Saturdays and Sundays form 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Try this: The Italian sausage Jimmy B style. If you’re there for brunch, the Tex-Mex Chilaquiles with housemade chili, fresh tortilla chips tossed in tomatillo + tomato salsa, sour cream, scrambled eggs, and cotija cheese is a must.
🍻 Gaslamp Tavern, 868 5th Ave.
No surprise here — this neighborhood sports bar is located in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. With plenty of TVs for viewing your favorite sports team, happy hour specials, handcrafted cocktails, and a full pub-style menu with everything from loaded tater tots to a brisket sandwich — this tavern is a recipe for fun.
