A Solana Beach-based sign company is leaving the light on for SD: Category6LED has released three new replica signs fashioned after the gateway identity signs around local communities.

Owner Vince DiMella tells SDtoday he’s now offering LED mini replica signs inspired by the Gaslamp Quarter, Convoy District, and Old Town San Diego, each priced at $125.

The new collection joins DiMella’s previous bright ideas, including signs honoring North Park, Hillcrest, Little Italy, Kensington, University Heights, Normal Heights, and other local neighborhoods.

DiMella — a Solana Beach resident of 28+ years — said his business sparked from frequently running by the hot pink Solana Beach sign with his surfboard.

“I’d hang out at the restaurants and bars down there, and I’d walk my kid around when she was in a stroller, so we did everything around that pink sign,” he explained. “Our whole lives were raised around that sign.”
