We’re feeling the love this Valentine’s Day, and the holiday isn’t just about relationships. So we’re using it as an excuse to treat ourselves + enjoy our city, because we’ve got a lot to celebrate in San Diego — including today’s warm weather + sunshine. Call it a solo-date if you want, because we’re looking at some local ways to show ourselves some self-love.

Remember, there’s no “u” in Valentine’s Day, so don’t feel pressure to make plans today. That’s the best thing about self-care — you do it when you need it.

🌷 Buy yourself flowers — or the whole garden — from a local shop. Mission Hills Nursery is full of green life + San Diego history.

🖼️ Learn at your own pace. February is San Diego Museum Month, so you can save some money + pick a new museum to explore.

💆‍♂️ Pamper yourself + decompress at one of our spas, like Avia in La Mesa.

🚲 Work up a sweat by trying a new fitness class, like a beach spin at Hotel del Coronado, where you’ll overlook the ocean as you pedal.

🍣 Watch your favorite show, get dinner delivered + have the couch all to yourself. There are plenty of great to-go options, but Ichiban delivers some sushi we think you’d love.

Encinitas Sunset

☀️ Tonight will be a great night to catch the sunset + walk by the water. No beach is a bad choice, but we recommend Sunset Cliffs, La Jolla Shores + Swami’s Beach.

🍫 Enjoy a sweet treat — maybe some gelato, donuts, or chocolate from a local chocolatier.

🥬 If you’d prefer, prepare dinner with some healthy, local produce. San Diego Farmers Outlet in Grantville is a great option today (Mondays are the one day of the week without a local farmers’ market).

Did you know: St. Valentine is also the patron saint of beekeepers? Celebrate their hard work with some honey — we’re loving San Diego Honey Company (it’s sold at the Sea Hive Marketplace at Liberty Station). 🍯
