This allowed the team to advance to the Elite Eight in the March Madness bracket. Yesterday, they faced the Creighton Bluejays in a nail-biter game. With 1.2 seconds left on the clock and a tied score, Darrion Trammell shot a game-winning free throw, giving the Aztecs a 57-56 victory.

This is Aztecs history, and was the program’s first-ever appearance in the Elite Eight — they’d only been in the Sweet 16 twice before. Now, history continues as the team will get its first shot in the Final Four.

Next stop: NRG Stadium in Houston, TX, to face the Florida Atlantic Owls on Saturday, April 1, 3:09 p.m., in the Final Four.
