Picture this: A local artist with fresh ideas developing meaningful works for San Diego’s Civic Art Collection.
That’s the vision behind Exposure, the city’s first municipal photo fellowship program, “designed to provide a platform for artists to explore civic and social issues facing San Diego through the medium of photography.”
For the pilot fellowship, the Commission for Arts and Culture is seeking an artist or team to develop a framework for innovative, visual storytelling to help support “Welcoming San Diego,” an initiative “designed to advance the civic, social, and economic integration of immigrants in the most vibrant cross-border mega region in North America.”
The fellowship’s budget is $75,000 and the position will begin in late spring through the fall of 2024. The commission is accepting artist applications through 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 5 — so if you know a photographer, expose them to the opportunity.
