Unleash your inner child 🕹

7 adult-friendly activities for your inner kid

Who says kids have all the fun? San Diego is full of games and group activities, and sometimes, an older crowd wants to get in on the action.

These seven spots offer the same level of fun you had during your childhood, but you won’t feel out of place if you’re with your adult friends. In fact, you might get carded at the door, so feel free to grab a beer and let the good times roll.

🪙 Coin-Op

If you grew up in the 1980s, this place takes the joy of going to the arcade and adds a bar. There are two San Diego locations — North Park and the Gaslamp Quarter — where you can find a collection of new and old arcade games and epic walls filled with nostalgia.

🔨 Smash City Rage Room

Ready to break stuff? This North Park experience gets you suited up and lets you get out your frustrations by smashing everything in the room. If you have more stress to relieve, you can also try axe throwing — or toss them in a neon glow with dark light axe throwing.

The cool cocktails are just the start of the fun at this East Village hangout. You’ll also find bowling, karaoke, an arcade, tabletop games, and indoor lawn games.

⛳️ Tappers Mini Golf

This activity at The Loma Club in Point Loma is totally family friendly, but if you’re looking for sunshine and drinks, it’s still great spot for adults. The are group rates for adults only, cocktails by You & Yours Distilling Co., and two 9-hole courses where you can putt your skills to the test.

A park to remember 🌳

San Diego breaks ground on Olive Street Park

A new mini park will have a big impact in Bankers Hill. City leaders have broken ground on the Olive Street Park — a 0.6-acre community space that will take over the vacant lot at 2772 Third Ave.

The $2.3 million construction project will bring public, outdoor space to an area that is mostly residential. Amenities will include:
  • Fitness equipment and a playground structure
  • Open, grassy areas with ADA-compliant pathways
  • An observation deck overlooking Maple Canyon
The park will also have the city’s first memorial dedicated to the 8,000+ San Diegans who have died from AIDS. This has been a long time coming, as activists have proposed building a tribute since 1994.

The project is expected to take 13 months to complete, with a substantial portion of the construction finished by this winter.
THE WRAP

Today’s issue was written by Michael.

Editor’s pick: Good morning, San Diego. I think I overdid the sweets on Valentine’s Day, so a healthy lunch is in order, and nothing beets a good salad. 🥗

If you’re looking for a good place to get your greens, lettuce give you some recommendations. We love Our Green Affair in Pacific Beach or Hillcrest, Mary’s Gourmet Salads in La Jolla, and The Greenspot Salad Company in Mission Valley, 4S Ranch, and University City.
