Civic
The San Diego County Board of Supervisors approved an updated regulation that will not hold residents in unincorporated areas financially responsible for graffiti removal. Previously, property owners had some financial obligations, despite being victims of the vandalism. The county estimates the new policy will cost $20,000-$40,000 for the full 2023-2024 financial year. 🎨 (Times of San Diego)
Development
The former site of Central Library on E Street in downtown San Diego has been converted into a shelter to house women experiencing homelessness. The 36-bed facility will be managed by the National Alliance for Mental Illness, and will provide social services, case management, and housing assistance. 🛏
Outdoors
County supervisors approved $3.5 million in developments to Mount Woodson Gateway County Preserve, which is known for its hiking trails and access to Potato Chip Rock. The improvements include a solar-powered entrance and lighting, portable bathrooms, trash and recycling, and a 209-car parking lot. The Comic-Con Museum has announced its new exhibits opening Saturday, Feb. 4. “The Animation Academy — from Pencils to Pixels,” features 20+ interactive stations where visitors can learn about storyboarding, animation, and snap pics inside iconic shows like “The Simpsons.” Meanwhile, “Cover Story: Five Decades of Comic-Con,” displays original works designed by comic art legends. 🦸♂️
Concert
Call it magic, Coldplay has added a second performance of the “Music Of The Spheres World Tour” at Snapdragon Stadium. The band will perform on Thursday, Sept. 28 — the day after their first show — with guests H.E.R. and 070 Shake. Set your clocks if you want tickets, sales start at 10 a.m. today. 🎤

Sugar Factory and Theatre Box in the Gaslamp Quarter have announced their closures, attributed to a difficult recovery from the pandemic. Developers are determining uses for the spaces — Mexican cantina Mr. Tempo and a sports bar that’s expected to open next month are now occupying Sugar Factory’s former site. 🔒 (San Diego Union-Tribune)

Look who’s mooving to Carlsbad. Mooyah Burgers, Fries & Shakes — a fast-casual chain based that originated in Texas — will be opening at 2540 El Camino Real, Ste A. Time is limited to get season tickets for the San Diego Padres’ 2023 season. Package sales are expected to stop after FanFest on Saturday, Feb. 4, due to record-breaking demand — the first time the team will place a cap on season tickets.
If you have a specific game in mind, single-game tickets go on sale starting Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m. And how about this play, the team has announced its promotional events and theme game calendars.
