  • We hear the “Friar Flu” is going around San Diego — ahem, people calling out for work so they can watch the Padres play in the NLCS. Symptoms may include: endless chanting of “Let’s go, San Diego,” a brown + gold takeover of your wardrobe, high-fiving strangers, and goosebumps. đŸ€Ž (CBS 8)

  • According to Yelp, Old Town’s Cosmopolitan Hotel ranks No. 3 among the “Most Haunted Hotels in the US,” while downtown’s US Grant Hotel is No. 25. That’s the Spirit: Hotel del Coronado offers guided ghost tours all about the mysterious Kate Morgan

The fate of Kate. 💔

Hotel del Coronado is offering a 45-minute guided ghost tour that explores the story of Kate Morgan — the beautiful but “sorrowful” young woman who infamously checked into The Del on Thanksgiving Day 1892 but, “after five lonely days,” wound up taking her own life at the resort.

To this day, it is believed that her ghost roams the property — especially her room, 3327, which also happens to be the hotel’s most requested guestroom. Hotel hallways, the shoreline + the resort’s gift shop are also sites of reported sightings. 👀

For $30, a guide will walk you through the mystery of Morgan’s death and other spirits rumored to haunt the hotel. The Haunted Happenings Tour is available Sunday-Thursday at 7 p.m., and Friday + Saturday at 9 p.m. Pro tip: Attendees must be age 12+, and make sure you reserve your spot online ahead of time.
THE WRAP

SD Garske Panda
Today’s issue was written by Monica.

Editor’s pick: Happy Friday. Earlier this week, we gave you a list of locally-inspired Halloween costumes, which got me thinking about my family’s most San Diego group costume to date.

The year: 2019. The (sad) inspo: The iconic giant pandas leaving the San Diego Zoo, being repatriated to China. My daughters dressed up as mini Bai Yun and Xiao Liwu, I was a zookeeper, and my husband wore a Chinese flag shirt — and carried bamboo sticks to lure the pandas. It was cathartic; the only way to cope, really. đŸŒ
