Pop Pie Co., University Heights, Point Loma + Pacific Beach
Who says you can’t have pie for lunch? This local chain’s 5-inch savory pies make the perfect lunch with options like classic chicken, Aussie beef, or veggie. Add a side for $3, and this lunch combo will still cost less than $15.

Urban Plates, La Jolla, Carlsbad, and Del Mar

At this bayfront restaurant you’ll find plenty of options under $15, like the Smokey Pig pulled pork sandwich for $14 or a two carnitas taco plate for $13. This outdoor patio offers great views of San Diego Bay, so don’t worry if you pig out because you’ll be right next to great walking paths.

    City Tacos, Six locations
This local chain spans from Imperial Beach to Encinitas with six locations, and it’s soon to be seven. But, let’s taco ‘bout food. On a $15 budget, you can easily get three tacos — feel free to mix it up, but we always like the San Diego Carne Asada.

Pro tip: Visit on Taco Tuesday to save 10% on tacos, and put that savings toward a $2.50 Mexican beer.

Homestyle Hawaiian, Five San Diego County locations
Whether you’re in the mood for katsu chicken, teriyaki beef, or spam and eggs, this restaurant serves many island dishes under $15.

    Pizza

Mr. Moto, Eight San Diego locations
This local shop was founded in Pacific Beach in 2015 where it gained a reputation for its creative pies and by-the-slice specialties. Generally, a single slice will cost about $5, but we recommend the combo with two slices and a soda for $12.

Board & Brew, 13 San Diego County locations
Locals have known and loved this chain since it was founded in Del Mar in 1979. Its 13 locations span from Oceanside to Chula Vista, plus it has a location inside Petco Park. Prices vary by location, but the Turkado — one of its specialties — is ~$11, or you could try the Left Coast Pastrami for ~$14.

    The Deli Llama, Hillcrest
