It’s a new year, and that means it’s time for new adventures + your favorite hobbies. We’re excited for things to do in our city this month — but we know some events are being impacted by COVID-19 safety protocols. Before making plans, check to make sure events haven’t been canceled and you’re comfortable with regulations. Here are some January 2022 events that can be enjoyed indoors, outside, or at home.

Mind + Body

  • San Diego Resolution Run | Sat., Jan. 22 | Times Vary | Tecolote Shores, Mission Bay Park | $45+ | Grab your running shoes for the 15th Annual 5K, 10K + Half Marathon.
  • Breath Fitness | Fridays | 9-10 a.m. | Japanese Friendship Garden- Balboa Park | $20 | Focus on your breathwork, manage stress + improve your fitness performance with these meditation techniques. 🌬️

Family Fun

  • Poway Winter Festival | Fri., Jan 7- Sat., Jan. 8 | 5-9 p.m., 3:30-8:30 p.m. | Poway Community Park | Free Entry | Celebrate the winter outside with sledding, snowman building, marshmallow roasting + photos. ⛄
  • Disney on Ice: “Dream Big” | Thurs., Jan. 20-Sun., Jan. 23 | Times vary | Pechanga Arena San Diego | $20+ | Beloved Disney movies — from “Coco” to “Moana” — are retold on ice skates. ⛸️
  • Jurassic Quest | Fri., Jan. 21-Sun., Jan. 23 | 9 a.m.-8 p.m. | Del Mar Fairgrounds | $19+ | More than 100 life-size, interactive dinosaurs take you through prehistoric periods at this walk-through event where you can also dig for fossils. 🦖

Theater

  • ‘Friends! The Musical Parody’ | Thurs., Jan. 20 | 7:30 p.m. | Balboa Theatre | $35.50+ | The comedic musical parody drops into town for one night only.
  • The Spongebob Musical | Fri., Jan. 14-Sun., Feb. 20 | 2 p.m. (Sundays) + 7 p.m. | Coronado Playhouse | $27+ | Broadway’s award-winning play with original songs by popular artists — running Thursdays-Sundays. 🦀

In January, our city is saying game on — you can grab tickets to watch live or follow along from the comfort of your home.
