Bring on the bursts of beautiful blossoms. Our region’s beloved springtime stapleThe Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch — officially opens for the season today. Nearly 55 acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers are primed + ready for the spotlight, using their pretty platform to usher in spring.

So, plant yourself here for a sec, ‘cause we wanna stalk to you: Here’s what to expect at the 2022 edition of this colorful Carlsbad attraction.

🌸 Fast facts: The bloom sesh

🗓️ The grand opening of The Flower Fields is today. After that,the season runs through Mother’s Day — Sun., May 8, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. daily.

⏰ The flowers are in bloom for approximately 6-8 weeks, but the “peak” of the season is usually late March to early May, so time that visit.

🎟️ Tickets to the all-outdoor attraction must be purchased online. You pick an arrival time + must enter within that half-hour — once you’re in, you can stay as long as you’d like for the day. Prices include parking.

📸 Pro tip: The Fields are best enjoyed by walking. You can stroll along designated paths and, of course, stop at designated spots for that coveted, flower-filled selfie.

🚜 Tired of walking? Take an open-air ride on the Tractor Wagon ($6 for adults, $3 for kids) for a comprehensive view of The Fields + a little history lesson.

🦋 The Fields features lots of things to do: The artist gardens and aviaries, a Cymbidium Orchid Greenhouse, a sweet pea maze, a butterfly garden, a poinsettia display boasting 20+ rare varieties, and a whimsical playground for your littlest buds. There’s also a new, 5-acre “Sea of Sunflowers” — best to visit in mid-April. Special events are scattered throughout the season – from sunset wine tastings to yoga classes amongst the flowers.
