Feeling that holiday cheer? Us too — and we’re not (home) alone. ☃️
Some well-known San Diego bars have fully gotten into the spirit of the season, transforming into festive wonderlands with all the trimmings — wall-to-wall decorations, shimmering lights, and cocktails that sleigh.
Let’s raise a glass to four holiday pop-up bars where you can drink and be merry. 🍸
💫 Miracle on 30th Street
📍 Polite Provisions, 4696 30th St., North Park
For the past few years, “Miracle” pop-ups have taken over bars and lounges in select cities across the world, including Polite Provisions in San Diego. The holiday-themed event brings kitschy décor, festive craft cocktails, and nostalgic party vibes to the North Park hotspot during regular business hours and we are here for it.
🎅 Sippin’ Santa
📍 The Grass Skirt, 910 Grand Ave., Pacific Beach
This tiki-themed Christmas pop-up takes over bars across the US annually and in San Diego, it happens at The Grass Skirt — a funky, polynesian speakeasy and restaurant in PB. From décor to over-the-top drinks like Rudolph’s Rum Rhapsody, it’s a real experience. Sippin’ Santa runs through the end of December. The bar opens daily at 5 p.m.; make a reservation.
🎄 Over the Top Holiday Lounge
📍 Top of the Hyatt, 1 Market Pl., downtown San Diego
Sitting 40 stories high at the top of the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego, this holiday cabin-themed pop-up experience includes a cozy fireplace, stockings hung with care, and a menu filled with jolly creations. Specialty drinks include the vodka and eggnog-based “Let It Snow,” and the rum and hot cider-based “Sweater Weather.” See the Top of the Hyatt’s festive makeover nightly, 3 p.m.-12 a.m., through Wednesday, Dec. 28.
❄️ Deck the Halls
📍 Nason’s Beer Hall, 507 J. St., downtown San Diego
Nestled inside the bar at the Pendry San Diego hotel, this pop-up is a partnership with Tipsy Elves apparel and features 20,000+ lights, frosty craft brews, and specialty cocktails like the “Tipsy and Toasted.” The décor is dripping in holiday sweaters — including the “world’s largest ugly Christmas sweater.” Proceeds benefit the San Diego Food Bank. Nason’s Beer Hall opens at 3 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 10 a.m. on weekends.
