San Diegans, park it here.
Next time you head to the San Diego International Airport, you’ll have the option to park at the New Terminal 1 Parking Plaza — the latest milestone in SAN’s ongoing New T1 project.
Here’s what you need to know about the new parking option:
- The New T1 Parking Plaza is located at 3501 N. Harbor Dr. — directly across from Terminal 1; access it by following the signs westbound and eastbound.
- Customers can pay for parking at kiosks or make reservations online.
- The plaza consists of two sections — or “cores” — both with a color + graphic scheme to help customers keep track of their cars because losing your car in a big parking lot is the worst.
- The New T1 Parking Plaza is opening in two phases — the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority debuted the first phase in late August 2024, opening 2,834 parking spaces. Of those spaces, 519 are for “clean vehicles.”
- The plaza also features a no-cost tire inflation station near the exit and luggage carts on all levels.
- The plaza’s second phase is expected to open at the end of summer 2025, which will increase the parking available at SAN to nearly 8,500 spaces.
- There’s still lots of construction around the plaza and SAN, so give yourself plenty of time to account for delays when traveling to the airport.
The full, $3.8 billion New T1 project is slated to continue to open in phases. In late summer 2025, Phase 1A will bring 19 new gates and lots of new concessions. In early 2028, Phase 1B will bring the project’s final 11 gates.
